Keep your makeup in place all day!

We have been having some sort of heat wave these past few weeks - can’t say I’m liking it. I much prefer autumn/winter!

Anyways, for anyone who wears makeup during the summer months you will only know too well how it slips and slides because of the excess oils the heat induces. I have been loving refreshing my makeup throughout the day with skin mists because they help keep your makeup in place as well providing a smooth finish to the skin - it looks almost as if you have just applied your makeup.

To start off with you are instantly drawn to the gorgeous packaging. A sleek glass bottle with a gorgeous design along the side of it. The Be Calm hydrating skin mist by Skin Guru is not your average skin mist - packed with a variety of roses this skin mist will help calm and de-stress your skin as well as providing essential moisturise and hydration. A light spritz all over your face is all you need to refresh - the scented mist is soothing and calming. Who doesn’t love the smell of roses? The best thing about this product is that it is advertised as being suitable for even the most sensitive skin types, I can vouch for that. I have been loving it. Definitely a handbag essential for when out, you don’t want your makeup sliding around!

This skin mist retails at £22 for 55ml.

Clinique Chubby Stick in Wooping Watermelon review

A lip balm in the form of a chubby pencil which provides the same colour richness as a lipstick?…

If you are a member of Clinique you will know all about there freebies when you buy 2 or more items. I buy Clinique like Mac fans buy Mac. I received this freebie a few weeks ago when I made a shockingly huge purchase. *eeeeek*

The Clinique Chubby Sticks (rrp £16) are lip balms with hints of colour in pencil form. Unlike other regular lip pencils, this chubby stick is winded up like a lipstick. When applied to the lips it has a balm like texture which leaves your lips moisturised throughout the whole day; the colour pay off is great, it is very similar to a lipstick in which it is opaque and provides a coating of rich colour.

The colour I received is Wooping Watermelon; the colour pay off is great and comes out exactly how it is on the stick. You can mix multiple colours together to create a new shade too! I have been using mine a lot during Spring and now Summer, it is also great for traveling with as it is compact.

House of Fraser currently have an offer on if you buy two chubby sticks you will get free pouch!

Have you tried any of the Clinique Chubby sticks? What did you think?

Confessions of a former full-fat coke addict!

Hi everyone!

Hope you are all well.

I thought I would write up a different style of post today seen as lately all my blog has been about is beauty! I came across this blog post idea from Elle (allthatglitters21).  Did you know It takes 21 days to break a habit apparently. But after many failed attempts I am now proud to say I have been ‘clean’ for around 6 months. I am no longer a full fat coke addict!

As a child I adored a can of the good stuff, a chilled can of Coke. So every time we would go out food shopping I would pop one into the trolley as a treat. Back then as a child I liked the stuff but I wasn’t addicted to it. My full fat coke 'addiction' didn't start that long ago actually, I’d say maybe a few years? I can’t pin point on what I liked about it the most - was it the appealing packaging? The sweet taste of caramel infused with carbonated goodness? or is it the fact it gave a caffeine high and got me through stressful times?

I actually didn’t know I had an ‘addiction’ until other people pointed it out - even then I brushed it off. Where and when did my addiction start I hear you say - back in 2010. I think I gulped down cans and cans of the stuff to get me through the dire work shifts and coursework for just over 2 years. I have only ever drank coffee once in my life, the smell and taste of it repulses me. Tea is also a no go as are energy drinks (sensitive to caffeine - yet I was guzzling down Coke?!). When ever I drank the stuff I felt awake and ready to go, hyper almost. This was obviously the caffeine doing its work. But then shortly after I would come crashing down again, I would feel like I had no energy and felt anxious - what was my solution? More full fat coke, stupidly. I wasn’t having excesses of 20 cans a day; you don’t need to have as much as that to be ‘addicted’. I was having around 6 cans a day for the majority of the time. Goodness knows how much pounds I gained…

This can of goodness would accompany me whilst I ate; lunch and dinner but as sick as it is to declare this little fact it was often my choice of drink at breakfast too. I always use to think to myself nothing starts the day better than a can of full fat Coke. It would accompany through the good times and the bad and would be a great pick me up when I was stressed. I bet there are a lot of Coke addicts out there but they just don’t know it yet.

One of the main side effects I noticed was I kept feeling anxious and uneasy, but as time went on the more I would drink it the quicker the caffeine high would wear off. I always knew I was sensitive to caffeine but I carried on drinking the stuff thinking the caffeine content wouldn’t be as much as it is in an energy drink - how very wrong I was. I attempted to reduce my intake to 1 can a day, it was a struggle. I had headaches, insomnia and mood swings!? I carried on for about a week then went back on the stuff in full swing; 6 cans of carbonated goodness. This carried on for months and months, I would attempt to come out of the addiction because it was making me feel uneasy but couldn’t bear the withdrawal symptoms so I would go back on it, I was lacking the will power and motivation required.

At the beginning of this year I started a healthy eating plan, my Coke addiction was a no-no for obvious reasons. If you did want a carbonated drink it would have to be ‘Diet’ - Me and diet drinks don't go and never will. If Diet drinks were the only carbonated drinks on Earth I would much rather opt for a glass of water. Diet drinks contain Aspartame; in the media the chemical Aspartame crops up from time to time because of the debilitating effects it can have on people. Aspartame has been linked to so many diseases as well as mental health issues that it is really not worth having this chemical in our body. Did you know it is 40x sweeter than regular sugar also? Search it, you will be shocked.

Enough was enough, I had to become in control again. I was determined to quit whilst I was on the healthy eating plan. I was following Slimming World, you are allowed treats in moderation. Whenever I was out a can of chilled full fat Coke would have previously been my choice of drink. I wouldn’t even have given the others a second thought but after started the healthy eating plan anything caffeine free I was open to try.

It was a tough a month I’m not going to lie, I had severe withdrawal symptoms and it really was debilitating but I had my end goal in mind; a clean head and possibly even the chance of losing some weight. I got through it and I saw it till the end. I only lasted on the healthy eating plan for just over a month but I do have positives to take away from it; not only did I lose some weight I also kicked the full fat coke addiction and saved ALOT of money!

Sprite is my new love. It gives me the carbonated goodness without the caffeine. It also tastes refreshing! I also much prefer flavoured sparkling water now too. It is hard but it needs to be done. For anyone reading this who has had a similar experience let me know how you are getting on. You can do it, you will feel so refreshed after doing so!

Please share your tips and advice in the comments below, I love reading comments!

Ciaté chalkboard nails

Ciaté never fail to disappoint us when it comes to being bang on trend with our nails. Earlier this year we saw the release of the ‘Chalkboard nails’ A simple yet ingenious idea.

In this nifty little pack you get a matte black nail polish, a clear top coat and 4 pens which play as your chalk. The coolest thing about this is after being all artsy and doodling if you don’t like it just simply wash it off before the top coat. The top coat then seals your chalkboard doodle!

I love this concept and I think its awesome. You can purchase this from Selfridges. Let me know what you think in the comments.

5 BARGAIN beauty buys under £1!

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

Hi everyone! Just another day trawling through eBay again; the effects of payday. I love bargains and I find a sense of satisfaction when I buy things at such value, who doesn’t?!

I put together my top picks for your viewing pleasure but would you believe they are all under £1?

1. The travel perfume atomiser is great if you aren’t up for lugging around your fancy perfume bottle. It is perfect for travel and also works well for popping into your handbag or clutch. I just brought 3 and will be popping my favourite scents in them!
2. The beauty blending sponge is similar to the infamous Beauty Blender, at 99p it is a bargain not to be missed! Sponge applications always provide more of a flawless finish.
3. I am loving these eyelash curlers, I have had mine for a few weeks now and they work just as great as any expensive brand in my opinion. Also love the pink detailing, so girly!
4. These hair grips are great because they keep all your hair back including your fringe when you apply your makeup in the morning! Also great for when you are doing your morning or evening skin care ritual.
5. The nail file is a must have for everyone, perfect for popping into your bag!

LUSH Sugar Lip Scrub review

Do you have a sweet tooth? This product might serve you a dual purpose…

The LUSH sugar lip scrub is a product I have been using for over a year now. I have never come across anything like it. This lip scrub titled ‘Sweet Lips’ contains vanilla and chocolate flavouring and as soon as you open it this is quite evident. As well as containing all natural ingredients it is also suitable for vegans. The idea behind this lip scrub is that it does just that, scrubs all the dead skin off your lips and leaves the super smooth and moisturised. But the extra treat this encloses is that it is edible. yummy!

The LUSH sugar lip scrub retails at £5.25 for 25g. This little jar will last you many many months as you only need the smallest amount.

Available to purchase at LUSH.

AVON superSHOCK gel eyeliner review

I am totally loving this AVON Supershock gel eyeliner this year - I came across it through a you tuber then ordered it instantly giving into the hype. It is one of their best-selling eyeliners. I found it to be the creamiest eyeliner I have ever tried out and boy I have tried ALOT of eyeliners! (I counted up my black eyeliners, I had 36 - slightly worrying right?!)

It applies very opaque, the colour pay off is what you want in an eyeliner; it is a very intense black shade. I prefer to use it for my waterline but you can also use it for winged liner. It is such an intense colour and makes your eyes pop! AVON also has this eyeliner in other shades so its worth a look, I am loving the aqua shade perfect for summer!

The eyeliner is half price just now at only £3 which is an absolute bargain!

Collection 2000 Fast Stroke Eyeliner review

The Collection 2000 Fast Stroke eyeliner has always been a firm favourite of mine dating back to school years, I used to rock the 'panda eye’ look aged 12 onwards. Who knows why?!... I thought it was cool.

The Collection 2000 fast stroke eyeliner retails at £2.99. Bargain! Wether its a thin line you are after or a thick cat flick, this liquid eyeliner is for you. It comes in two different colours Brown and Black then also a waterproof version. I have never tried the brown version, but I have repurchased this black one and the waterproof version countless amount of times! The little nib is not flimsy at all so even if you have a pretty unsteady hand there is little room for error.

The longevity of the product is great, it lasts until you take it off and does not smudge; it stays well put throughout the day.

You can find this product in Superdrug.

Have you ever tried this eyeliner?

Nars Tender Night Matte Lip Pencil review

I’ve always wanted to try out an ‘unusual’ lip colour; Nars matte lip pencil in Tender Night seemed to be the one that I felt would provide that. The Tender Night lip pencil came out with the 2013 summer Nars collection.

This jumbo lip pencil is a shimmery pale purple tone almost lilac and provides an opaque cover to the lips. I was quite apprehensive to try it as the colour does look quite bright on the pencil but once it blends with your natural lip colour it is a wearable shade. I’ve never tried Nars lip pencils before; this once was very creamy and nourishing!

You can purchase this Nars lip pencil in Tender Night (£17.50) from HQ hair - they offer free worldwide shipping!

Have you ever worn a shade you were apprehensive of at first?

Decleor Hydra Floral Multi Protection BB Cream review

I recently got given a sample 10ml of the Decleor Hydra Floral Multi Protection BB cream. Towards the end of last year there was a big hype created around BB creams: but would you believe I never went out and brought one?

I have been using this Decleor Hydra Floral Multi Protection BB cream for around 2 weeks now and I can see why the hype was created! It could potentially be my holy-grail face product. As stated in previous posts I hardly ever wear foundation I just find it really thick so this BB cream is exactly what I was looking for.

This BB cream on the other hand is similar to a tinted moisturiser with the added bonus of an SPF factor of 15! It is very moisturising and the colour of the bb cream will I feel suit mosts complexions. It blends into the skin evenly and brightens up your complexion. It helps in making your face appear more brighter and luminous which is great for the summer. I can’t wait to utilise this product again whilst away on holiday, so I will most likely be purchasing a full size version which is 40ml. This is great because the average foundation size is only 30ml.

You can purchase this product through BeautyExpert for £29 (40ml) They have free worldwide delivery!

What are your thoughts on BB creams?

Seascape Island Apothecary Refresh Hand Lotion review

I recently came across this hand lotion and have been loving it. Over the last few months my hands have been quite dry and sore; most likely due to the indecisive weather. I have been using the Seascape Island Apothecary refresh hand lotion for quite a few days now.

To start of it is presented beautifully in a box, the product itself is in a corresponding 300ml pump bottle which is great as you are less likely to waste, It is also much more hygienic. I think the bottle looks very high end. The lotion smells very refreshing and slightly herbal. You can smell the lovely lavender scent as soon as you apply it. The lotion contains 100% natural oils, lavender, lemongrass and shea butter to add moisture. The lotion itself is quite thick but not as thick as a cream if that makes sense? It soaks in after a couple of seconds so is deeply nourishing.

Seascape Island Apothecary is free of animal testing which is a great. Their products are also SLS, paraben, silicone and petroleum free. Their ingredients are sourced from ethical suppliers which is an added bonus!!

You can purchase this product from Look Fantastic it retails at £16- they have free worldwide delivery!
