Desk essentials haul

I have recently been getting a lot of stationary bits for my desk so I thought I would show you them.

I have a few pastel document wallets which help keep me organised with different things along with my planner which I recently wrote a post on here. I actually have a few different planners, again for different things. I have been making use of my blogging one recently and hope this stays! I find writing notes and jotting things down on specific dates helps you as starts becoming a target you need to reach.

In a similar vain to my planners and diaries I also have this To-Do list notepad. I purchased this a while back but only recently started using it. I like the layout as it includes things like errands and tasks as well as a place for notes. The check mark boxes on the side really keep you motivated. Each time I tick a box I feel a slight sense of achievement. Sad haha. I purchased the floral weekly planner the other day from B & M Bargains (my favourite shop!). I am excited to start filling it up, might use it for blog designing. How many planners does one need?

I love using these mini Crayola markers when organising my wall planner. They were only around £3 as well, super bargain! Using different colours whilst writing makes it more interesting and fun! It also helps me remember things better.

I also always try and have at least one candle on my desk, just now I have the Yankee Candle, Sugared Apple burning. I love this scent and couldn’t help but repurchase this year. It’s perfect for this season and smells like caramelised apples. Candles always make rooms more cosy, especially around Autumn/Winter time.

I love using these jewellery holders for holding little bits of stationary. This rabbit one is from The Range and was around £2. As an alternative to paper clips I find these metal clips work a lot better, not only do they hold more paper but it also feels a lot more secure. I purchased these mint ones from Tesco but these alternatives are just as cute!

Along with my laptop and camera I also have a few other tech essentials. I use a Platinum SD card (class 10)* for my camera. This particular card is great for when taking blog photos because it transfers onto the laptop a lot quicker compared to any others I’ve previously owned. The class 10 version also allows me to take simultaneous shots on my camera without it lagging. The card is really inexpensive at £14.99. I also regularly back up items onto my Platinum USB stick*. These USB sticks are great for transferring documents, photos etc. They are great also if you are a student too and can be popped into your bag for convenience.

I’m typing this whilst listening to Glee Christmas; version 1, 2 and 3. Too soon? Too soon.

What are your desk essentials?

A festive Yankee Candle haul...

I couldn’t help myself, payday for me usually involves a making a purchase in the Yankee Candle store. I normally opt for the larger jars as they last the longest but because they released their Halloween and Christmas collections I thought I would go WILD and buy the limited edition scents. I opted for the Wax Tarts as they are the cheapest at around 99p, this allowed me to buy a good few without my card hating me. This is a good way of trying out different scents without committing to the full sized jar as they can be quite pricey.

I purchased two of the most popular halloween scents out of the four. The first Halloween scent I purchased was the most recommended and that is Ghostly Treats (£1.15). This smells like freshly toasted marshmallows. I will be burning this first I think. The other one is Candy Corn, in America there is a sweet called ‘Candy Corn’ and so the Candy Corn (£1.15) candle supposedly smells like that. To me it smells like a mixture of honey and caramelised sugar, quite pungent but very autumnal. I also like the fact it is  orange.

I had quite a big list for the Christmas scents but many of them were sold out unfortunately. Luckily I was still able to get the others I had wanted. Snowflake Cookie (£1.20) smells just like sugary icing, I adore the muted pink colour of it. Red Apple Wreath (£0.99) smells like crisp red apples and cinnamon, very Christmassy. Candy Cane Lane (£0.99) smells like a mixture of peppermint and vanilla and finally I also picked up Christmas Eve (£0.99) which smells warm and very fruity, I am excited to burn this on the 24th! The other Christmas ones I still need to buy are Angel Wings (£0.99) and Christmas Garland (£0.99).

Two other wax tarts I picked up were Fireside Treats (£0.99) which again smells like toasted marshmallows and Wedding Day (£0.99) which smells like freshly cut roses with a hint of fruit. These two are available all year round.

I can’t wait to start using them, I will be burning Ghostly Treats first. The wax tarts last around 8 hours but as with the majority of yankee candles you only need to take the wrapper/lid off and the scent is dispersed throughout the whole room. I will be using a quarter of each tart at a time, this allows me to change the scent up often without wasting it. Also the good thing about a tart burner is you can mix together many different wax tarts and make a whole new scent.

I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know if you have purchased any Yankee Candles or if you are going to?

Zoella Beauty review

The first blog I ever followed all those years ago was that of Zoe’s from Zoella. So when she announced she was releasing a line of bath products I was intrigued. I ordered a few things the day they launched online as I just couldn’t wait.

First the packaging. I absolutely adore the packaging. Like many others have already said it just shouts Zoella. The packaging has been designed with her blog in mind, lace detailing and the same cursive font which she has on her blog header. The packaging also consists of her two favourite colours, orange and rose gold. It looks like a lot of time was spent on the packaging which is great.

Secondly the scent, as a lover of fruity scents I was initially apprehensive about trying the range. Zoe went for a floral fragrance overall with slight hint of sweet. I can't imagine how hard it must have been for her to chose a scent that everyone likes.

Blissful Mistful, fragranced body mist. 45ml/£8
This was the first thing I placed in my basket. I have been looking for an ‘everyday’ body mist for a while and this definitely fits the bill. Aside from the packaging being gorgeous I absolutely love the scent, unlike a lot of the other items in the range this doesn’t smell as over powering. It smells very fresh with light floral tones. This is something I can honestly see myself repurchasing.

Creamy Madly Dreamy, body lotion. 160ml/£5
The lotion is more of a cream and is really moisturising. It absorbs well into the skin. It contains Vitamin E, Aloe and Shea Butter extracts. The scent for me is a little too strong unfortunately, so I have stopped using it.

Let’s Glow, fragranced candle. £5
I was really excited about trying this candle out, like the others the packaging is adorable. It looks so chic. The scent for me is too over powering again. It smells very florally and artificial.

Soak Opera, bath soak & shower cream. 490ml/£5
I love this product, it can be used in the shower or the bath and is priced very well along with the rest of the items. The scent is floral but very subtle which is great for me. It lathers up really well and is very moisturising with the Vitamin E, Aloe and Shea Butter extracts.

Overall, the packaging is beautiful and I love the range of products Zoe has released, a little different to makeup. The pricing is great, I imagine its affordable because of the main target audience - young teens. The items are priced at £5 or £8. But unfortunately the scent for me is a little too strong on a few of the products. I can however see myself repurchasing the body mist as it is quite subtle compared to the rest.

The range has been selling often online and in store but you can look for them on Feel Unique or Superdrug. I prefer and have linked Superdrug as delivery is free if you spend over £10!

Have you purchased any of the ZoellaBeauty items, or are you going to?

A festive lush haul...

Lush launched their festive products the other day; halloween, bonfire night and christmas! I couldn’t help but make a small purchase and opted for some limited edition and all year round favourites. I love buying things from Lush, they make your whole room smell lovely.

I usually place a huge online order around this time of the year and that lasts for a year but I thought I would only buy a few things this time and then make purchases throughout the year.

I won’t bother listing all the ingredients because I don’t want to bore you so I will just tell you my thoughts of each and will link to their site too.

So White, shower gel. £4.50/100g (limited edition)
Last year I purchased countless amounts of the So White bath ballistic, it is my ultimate favourite. This year they introduced a shower gel form too, so I opted for that instead. The So White products smell like green apples, quite crisp. The shower gel contains a little shimmer, nothing noticeable. I can’t help but want to buy some more So White bath ballistics, they are plain white and don’t do anything to the water but the smell is lovely!

It’s Raining Men, shower gel. £4.50/100g
This is another favourite of mine which I have used so many times. This shower gel smells of honey and is quite moisturising. It is advertised as being suitable to use on the hair too but I found it quite drying. I don’t normally like honey scented products but because this one is quite sweet smelling it’s more preferable to me.

Candy Mountain, bubble bar. £2.75 (limited edition)
If you like sweet smells, similar to that of candy floss then this is something you will love. The Candy Mountain bubble bar is designed to be melted underneath tap water, the smell is similar to that of Rockstar soap. It smells of sweets.

Butter Bear, bath bomb. £1.95
This is a newbie for me, I have heard so much about Butterball and they are quite similar apparently. Again this doesn’t do anything exciting but it does contain cocoa butter which moisturises your skin. There is a very subtle vanilla fragrance too!

Cinders, bath bomb. £2.50 (limited edition)
I stocked up on these last year! The Cinders bath bomb is quite spicy; it smells very festive. The Cinnamon notes really stand out along with hints of orange. The popping candy sprinkled over the top make a cute addition.

Think Pink, bath bomb. £2.65
This is another newbie, the pink bath bomb leaves all the water white as well as small bits of confetti. I love the style of this bath bomb, the vibrant pink is offset by the 3 cute little flowers in the center. The scent is that of vanilla and caramel; it smells cosy and comforting.

Rockstar, soap. £3.40/100g
My all time favourite soap from Lush, I have lost count of how many times I have purchased this, that’s how much I love it! The soap smells identical to Candy floss, very sugary and thoroughly moisturising. It also lathers very nicely.

Vanillary, solid perfume. £7
This is the first time I am trying one of their perfumes, I opted for the solid perfume version which was the cheapest at £7 for 12g but they do sell it bottled. I love vanilla scented things and thought this would be great to wear o a daily basis. I am a little unsure on the scent, it smells a bit like play dough and doesn’t last more than about 40 minutes on the skin. I don’t know if this is because it was a solid perfume, might have to pop in store and see the bottled version.

So thats that. It feels like proper Autumn now that the Lush goodies have arrived! Have you placed a Lush order?

Saturday 4 October 2014

Hello, Autumn.

Happy Autumn everyone!

I feel it’s okay to talk about Autumn now October has arrived. Anyone else as excited as I am? I have seen a few posts with everyones Autumn favourites and because this is my favourite season along with Winter I thought I would join in on the fun!

Also I notice I have been a little MIA recently, this is due to various reasons. I did write up a HUGE post with an explanation but this blog is a place of positivity, or so I hope so I have changed my mind about publishing it.

Anyways, onto the actual post...

My favourite things about Autumn are;

being able to sit by the fire, cosy
stepping on crunchy leaves
having hot chocolate and marshmallows
movie marathons with festive films
thick jumpers and socks
frosty mornings
boots, gross suede ones that are unbelievably comfy
finding the perfect pumpkin
rainy days
cinnamon candles... and candles in general
makeup actually staying on your face and not sliding off
going WILD in Lush (haul will be up soon)
candy apples
flannel shirts
bonfire night
