Gosh Cosmetics: Spring/Summer 2014

Gosh Cosmetics is a brand I have loved since it first launched a few years ago. This brand is solely available in Superdrug stores. They also sell their range on their own website too. I thought it would only be right to review a few of their stunning pieces from their very recently launched Spring/Summer range. Gosh Cosmetics have explored every trend with their new collection!

The Gosh Prime ’n’ Set (£9.99) is a translucent setting powder which can also be used as a primer. I recently reviewed the Gosh Velvet Touch Primer and I can confirm this new product is just as good. I have never come across a powder like this before but I am so impressed. When applied before your foundation the powder removes the appearance of fine lines, it also made my face appear less red too. I applied both a liquid foundation and mineral powder on top to test it out and both worked equally well. By using the Gosh Prime’n’Set, the foundation had a smooth surface to settle on. You can then re use the same powder to setting the foundation, and because the powder is so finely milled it doesnt appear cakey at all. This product is also ideal for travel as its 2 in 1, I highly recommend it.

Next up is the new Frosted Sand Look nail polishes. These retail at only £3.99. I absolutely adore these colours, they definitely are perfect for this season. They are sparkly but not in-your-face-tacky-kind-of-sparkly - if that makes sense? These nail polishes dry matt and leave a gorgeous glimmer to your nails. Frosted Soft Coral on the left is the perfect peach coral shade, it also features tiny glitter particles which catch the light subtly. On the right is Frosted Rose which is very much like Rose Gold, this nail polish also feature tiny glitter particles. I think this nail polish would be perfect all year round, especially in the festive season later on in the year!

The lip lacquers are a mixture between a lip stick and lip gloss. This is ideal as it’s not as drying as a lipstick but not as sticky as a gloss. There are so many lovely shades, I want them all! The lip lacquers come in a nail polish style bottle with a doe foot applicator. The staying power on these is incredible and that is due to the high pigmentation. Lovely Lips on the left is a peach/brown nude and Funky Lips on the right is a wearable red; I’d really recommend this one also for people who stick to safer nudes etc. This shade of red is a little muted and even though it is definitely a red. These retail at £5.99.

Last but not least are the Forever Eyeshadow Sticks. I have so many Gosh regular eyeliners and I can vouch for them being waterproof. To remove them you need an eye makeup remover because that is how pigmented they are. I was so excited to try these and I am pleased to report that they are indeed waterproof and do not budge. These eyeshadow sticks can be used as an eye liner below the eyes too which is a top trend this year. Forever Grey on the left is a grey charcoal shade with tiny glitter particles in it and Forever Light Copper on the right is a staple gold shade. These shadow sticks don’t need sharpening as they wind up and they also don’t crease on the lids. Another positive is that you don’t need a brush to apply them because they are easily blendable in the first few seconds of applying. I am tempted to purchase the green one now as that would look great if you need a pop of colour!

Superdrug have a 'buy one get 2nd 1/2 price’ offer running just now, and if you order over £10 you are entitled to free delivery. Students can also receive a great 10% off.

I am so excited to utilise these products throughout Spring and Summer, let me know your favourites!

Mother’s Day Gift Idea with BakerDays

With Mother’s Day soon approaching I thought it would be quite fitting to feature a gift idea post on my blog. Everyone likes cake and this could potentially be the most well thought out present I have ever come across.

Baker Days sell ‘letterbox’ cakes as well as larger cakes and cupcakes. The beauty of a  letter box cake is just that; it is a 5" cake which is thin enough to fit through your letterbox, this decreases the chances of you missing the post because you have to sign for it.

Along with the letterbox cake you also receive a personalised card, 2 candles, and a few balloons! The cake comes in a gorgeous tin which can be re-used and this also protects it whilst in transit. The cake I received was the Mother’s Day Rose Cake, with chocolate chips made with Belgian chocolate! I personally don’t eat chocolate so I had to give it a miss but everyone else enjoyed it! Another great thing about the cake is that it can keep for around 2 weeks. So you can order it in advance! They also post international too.

Baker Days have a ton of designs online along with different cake sizes and recipes to choose from. You can also personalise the cakes with your own text and/or picture. I was happy to see they also cater to those with a gluten or dairy intolerance.

The ‘letter box’ cake is £14.99 and serves 4-5 people.

I’m sure all mother’s would appreciate this little gift, it’s super cute and the concept is well thought out.

I hope you enjoyed this Baker Days Letter Box cake review; let me know what you think in the comments!

Macadamia Natural Oil - No Tangle brush + bits

I have never tried any products from the Macadamia line before so I was really intrigued to trying these! We have all seen the recent ‘tangle teaser’ brush floating around a lot of blogs and even youtube but Macadamia have come out with their own version called ‘No Tangle* which not only is considerably cheaper at £7.95 but it also has a handle which makes it easier to hold.

The Macadamia No Tangle Brush has rubber bristles so when it glides through the hair any knots and tangles diffuse straight away. This is great for tangle prone hair and is perfect for those wanting to grow their hair; the whole system helps to eliminate split ends and breakage. This brush is also a lot more gentle than most combs and brushes which are notorious for often tugging at knots. For tangle prone hair this brush is a must, it makes your hair a lot shiner and smoother too.

With the gift set I also received two samples of the best selling products, the first was the Macadamia Deep Repair Mask* (£10.20) This mask smells amazing for starters, the signature Macadamia nut oil adds a lot of moisture back into your hair, it also contains tea tree oil, chamomile oil and aloe and algae extract. It is great for porous hair and you can feel the benefits of it as soon as you rinse it off. The results last for days!

The Macadamia Healing Oil* (£10.35) is another product that almost all bloggers have used and loved. I wasn’t disappointed either. The scent again is amazing, I can’t quite figure it out but I would say it smells similar to fudge and it is not over powering at all. This oil can be used as a deep treatment or even after you have styled your hair. It is not greasy at all but you do need to ensure you only use a small amount. I haven’t used this that long but for the few days I have used it my hair is more shinier and smoother. The sample size I have will last a good while due to the small amount you need.

All the products mentioned can be purchased from LookFanstastic - I particularly love that website because they always have a good sale plus they do free worldwide delivery too!

Let me know if you have tried any Macadamia Natural Oil Products in the comments, what were your favourites?

review: La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo +

(£10.33 just now - bargain!)

I have read so many great reviews of this anti-blemich gel, suffice to say I wasn’t disappointed either.

The La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo which came out quite a while ago was for targeting new spots and blemishes but the The La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo [+] is the improved version which also eliminates redness and any marks left by the spots or breakout alongside any new blemishes or spots like the previous one.

I have been trailing this product for a good few weeks now and i’ve noticed differences very soon after I apply it. I have used this gel on days where I get a slight breakout, ya’know that sore red bump that makes an unexpected appearance?! It instantly soothes spots and makes it look less obvious and feel less sore. When you apply the gel you can notice a difference straight away; blemishes and acne scarring fade helping your skin look more even. I know if I carry on using this product the blemishes will most likely completely disappear. I have been using this gel only when I need it and I think I will carry on using it that way, it’s great for when you are targeting new spots. Because this is a thin gel based product I still needed to use a moisturiser on top but for those with oilier skin you may be able to do without.

The gel also helps prevent excess oil buildup by mattifying your skin, it evens out the texture and also removes blackheads.

I can’t believe I hadn’t tried this product sooner. It is definitely a product I am going to make sure is in the drawer at all times for those days when you get sudden unexpected breakout. I highly recommend it and can already tell I will be buying a few more as back ups!

Have you tried this product before? Or even heard of it?

wishlist #3 : eBay edition

1 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7

I love reading wish list posts and my own wish list posts get a lot of good feedback from you guys too so I thought it was only right to construct another one!

The pink skater dress is gorgeous, perfect for Spring and it would even look great on boots. Would you believe it costs less than £6 and they have a ton of other designs too! I have been eyeing up a silver beaded bracelet for a while but they are usually so expensive - but I’m so happy I came across this cheaper alternative. I think these bracelets are timeless and they can be worn whenever. Next up is a standard blazer - can’t go wrong really. Grey goes with most things. The Bunny Cake Yankee Candle is limited edition for Easter, so tempted to buy it! Smells like coconut cake apparently, lovely! I think positive affirmations are so important and this phone case is beaut. Next up a pair of shabby chic wellies, I know some people think the shabby chic trend is over rated but I don’t mind it. I think it makes the shoes look more girlie. Finally I came across this blush powder, I don’t know about the pigmentation but the packaging is so pretty, the pink tone looks natural.

Hope you enjoyed this post? Let me know what your favourites are and if you have any items you are currently adding to your wish list! x
