GEORGE ASDA NAILPOLISHES - £1

Hi everyone!

I have somehow unintentionally seemed to have accumulated quite a lot of nail polishes, of the George @ Asda variety. At £1- £1.75 (6ml) who wouldn't? Here are a few that I think would be perfect for this season!

Cloudless Sky/Jeopardy/Cupcake/Be Mine/Gnome/Freedom

George at ASDA recently revamped there beauty section. These nail polishes are such good quality, they have the nicest consistency and excellent colour pay off. A lot of the new nail polishes are also marketed as quick drying. They do in actual fact dry in about 30 seconds which is great if you are in a hurry. What you see is what you get, the colour you can see in the bottle is exactly the colour you will get on your nails. The consistency is not too thick nor too thin, it is easy to apply. For some of these colours you only need 1 coat, for the lighter shades 2 may be required.

They have the most beautiful colours in the range, i am highly impressed! £1 for a top quality nail polish?! Fab!

You can purchase these nail polishes over at the Asda website or instore! Asda Website

Have you ever tried Asda nail polishes? What did you think? Let me know in the comments.

Summer Foundations: Drugstore & High-end

It’s a lovely day here in the land of the scots! Makes a change!!

Today I thought I would write about my two favourite summer foundations. I’m more of an eyeliner and mascara kinda gal, but there are some days when you need a bit more coverage. I have very sensitive skin so it takes a lot of time to find one that actually suits my skin. Thankfully, the two foundations I mix between at the moment have never caused me to have a break out. Phew!

Starting off with my favourite drugstore/highstreet foundation…

The GOSH Natural touch foundation is a very light formula. It retails at £8.99 for a standard 30ml bottle and is exclusive to Superdrug at present. I brought the colour 44 Golden, which is slightly too dark for me but it works fine with a lighter coloured powder over the top. It has the ability of looking invisible on the skin whilst still providing a flawless, airbrushed finish. This foundation also contains  moisturising properties aswell as vitamins to nourish the skin; which sounds almost like a tinted moisturiser but this provides ALOT more coverage.

The foundation itself comes in a pump which is great as you only need the smallest amount, a pump prevents waste and is also more hygienic. The foundation also includes an SPF of 8 which is ideal for the summer months. This foundation provides a light, very dewy finish to the skin, but if you prefer a matt look you could pop on a mattifying powder over the top. I apply this foundation with a brush and my fingers, it works well either ways. It has great staying power, if powdered it will last you a good 12 hours! Its great for the summer months as it is very light i highly recommend this foundation to anyone who wants coverage but isn’t really a fan of wearing foundation. You can’t feel this on the skin at all. Its great.
GOSH Natural Touch Foundation can be purchased via Superdrug for £8.99: Superdrug Website

Onto the next more expensive foundation, low and behold the much raved about CHANEL VITALUMIÈRE AQUA.

I absolutely love this foundation, its so luxurious! The CHANEL VITALUMIÈRE AQUA is once again a has a very light consistency (notice the theme). It is water based so its perfect for people with oily skin as it shouldn’t really slip off. There are mixed review about this foundation and some people say it isn’t really worth the hype. I think its a lovely foundation. It retails at £32 for a standard 30ml bottle. I love the packaging, it has the Chanel logo on the lid.

Before each application the bottle needs a good shake as it does tend to separate. As with the other foundation you only need the smallest amount, in this foundation especially a little goes a long way. As with the GOSH foundation this also has the ability of feeling invisible on the skin whilst still providing great coverage. The product is slightly scented and this might be a deterrent for some people, but i hardly notice it and I’m the the of person who gets headaches straight away. The only downside to this foundation is there is very limited colours; they only have 6. I was lucky enough to get a perfect match but it would be great if Chanel came out with a wider range. This foundation provides a dewy finish, there are very small summery particles in it which helps provide the glowy texture. It also has an SPF of 15 which is great, but what i have noticed with this foundation is with flash photography it doesn’t work in your favour; the foundation looks white! To counter this problem just pop on a powder closely matching the colour of your foundation. If you are looking for a light foundation with flawless coverage this foundation is a great all rounder, perfect for when buying someone a present too as it comes packaged very nicely!

This foundation can be purchased from Debenhams at £32, free postage online! Debenhams website

Thank you for reading my post, please let me know what your favourite summer foundation is, i would love to try out more!

Fashionista Blush Quad

Hello!

Feels like I haven’t wrote a post in ages! Its been a few weeks i think.

I was going through my makeup bag today and saw my £12 blush quad and thought why not write a wee post about it. Fashionista is a brand solely selling beauty products for Superdrug. Each individual blush retails at £4 each and they have tons of them, a variety of eyeshadows too! You can also buy an empty quad for £5. But, if you were to buy 4 blushers/eyeshadows with the quad it would only cost you £12 rather than £21! So you would be saving a whopping £9! So essentially, you are buying 3 blushers and getting 1 blusher free as well as a free quad with a massive mirror inside it! Woo!

These blushers are potentially the best I have ever used; the formula, pigmentation, colour pay off and longevity are all to be applaud! I would go so far as to saying better than MAC and at a fraction of the price £10 - its a steal! With each blush you are getting 2.5g worth of product, which will last you for months! Its a great quad to take with you when you travel as well. Its the perfect size!

A little goes a long way with this product, because it is super pigmented you only lightly need to dab it with a brush. There are a variety of blushers;

Here are the colours i picked out,
L-R Glowing, Cinnamon, London, Flush

The colour pay off is really good, i highly recommend buying the whole palette; you will definitely love it! They also do eyeshadows in the same format. I know for sure i will be buying another palette, maybe neutral eyeshadows?

Thanks for reading! Please let me know of any makeup bargains you have come across!

Fashion Trends: Spring/Summer 2013

Hello!

Hope you are all doing well, the weather is lovely today! I haven’t been up to much today apart from work; story of my life. Sigh.

I thought I would write a post on some key fashion pieces for summer! I’ve added a few pictures of some of the items i have purchased as well as some I really like! All links of where you can find your own are listed below the pictures.

First we have the MONOCHROME trend, this trend consists of anything black and white. Who would have thought black was an acceptable colour for the summer?! Most of all stripes are really hitting the high street, this is especially seen in maxi dresses.

Next we have FLORAL, i suppose floral prints are acceptable every summer though; for obvious reasons. I love floral prints, i think they are cute and ditsy prints are perfect for the spring time too! We have seen skirts and maxis with this trend as well as trousers! The trousers are great paired with a white vest top and small blazer. Maxis work well with flat strappy sandals.

ORANGE is a big hit this season! I don’t know if I would ever incorporate orange into my wardrobe but I suppose a hint of orange would work well too; an orange belt? The biggest accessorry which consists of this bright colour is the handbags!

Another trend is two complete opposites; MINIMALISM AND GRAPHIC. With the minimalistic trend you are sticking to nude colours; beige, creams, light pinks. On the opposite scale with the graphics trend you have the bold shapes and bold colour combinations.

There are a few more like the Sports LUX and Giesha Girl trend but I will leave it at that seen as this post has got so long already!!

Anyhoo, let me know what your favourite trend for this summer is! I would love to know. Have a nice week! :)
